Getting NPC's to tell you where to go from where you are now, is more difficult because you can't just have all Citizens go "The barracks are Northeast", because generic citizens share dialogue, so the dialogue would not always be accurate. Additionally, once the schedules are in, the NPC's can be at different places. Then just noting the spot on the map once you talk with the Citizen would be good enough I think. A generic "let me tell you where the inn is", then having a map marker appear could do the trick. Easy way, and "roleplay-ish" way of helping the player navigate.
