As always, your information is concise, accurate and very helpful Raze. (After reading through countless threads, you seem to rival the Patriarch in your knowledge of the Divinity universe.)
Ah... I see my error now. One of the guides I'm using had a rather ambiguous description regarding Bedwyr, listing him as an Aleroth character/merchant and a good source for charms, but neglecting to mention he was part of the FoV expansion. Even on the wiki I just see him listed under "Aleroth Characters."
I also used the barrel in Maxos temple mirror room to hit level 20. I only stopped at level 20 because I was feeling guilty. I also figured I could make up some XP at Keara's fortress or in the Ministry if I felt I needed it later.
There's some excellent points made in that linked thread, level 40+ may be a bit extreme. I get the sense that there'd be little satisfaction left from battles if there's no possibility of losing.
Such power has ruined other games for me in the past.
*cough* Fortify Restoration Glitch *cough* Skyrim *cough*
Although; I AM curious about something I don't see mentioned in that thread:
-Does being level 40+ itself make you invincible REGARDLESS of stat point distribution?
-or-
-Not?
Because if power and resistances are directly tied into stat points more than the character level, it raises the question whether somebody looking to change builds could take advantage of this and stop putting points into Strength and start throwing points into Intelligence if they wanted to get away from a Melee build and move towards a Mage build or vice versa. (Or swap from either of those to a Ranger build for that matter.)
Although, even IF power and resistances ARE directly tied to stat points (more so than character level that is,) even using a loophole to grind a level 40+ character, I imagine there'd still be a cut-off point where one could switch focus and still create a worthwhile character build. I'm guessing at one third or perhaps half-way through DKS.
Of course, this is meaningless if level ALONE makes for an invincible character.
Any thoughts on this? Or has this already been hashed out many times before? (If so I apologize for raising the question, just ignore in that case and I'll find the answer eventually.)
