Well all major-story driven RPGs dont have respec. To avoid this horror u say just dont invest into anything until u really really have to, dont invest carelessly just cuz u can - invest because u must.
If u dont know what exactly new abilities do or how they work u can always test them- save before u invest go play abit and then reload-the old way of trial and error always works.
