Thanks, I did use a custom character and everything is working, including saves.
Playing along, I notice that there are many, many mindreading opportunities. If I mindread everyone, I doubt that my character will ever get enough xp to level up, so I am being careful to M/R only the more costly, in XP, NPCs. Is that a good idea?
But, the real question I have is this: how does my avatar get to what is apparently the lower level of shops, homes, etc. I need to get there to find the third of the cursed vegetables, sAshraaf, at Alzabeta's Emporium. The W/T I read tell me to go there to get the clue to open his door at the Prancing Pony, and on to see the witch, etc. There is a second way to do the quest, and I have gotten the code-notes. The info from the W/T is a bit confusing as it seems I need to get to the witch's room to find the elf dictionary and some other bit of quest stuff, to get past the big Tree and thus further the entire game.
I have wandered all around the Market Square and the Big Tree area but I cannot find any access that seem to be indicated on W/T maps.
If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks NM
