I saw the dev videos which show how objects and effects interact and what happens when you set things of fire, turn things to ice etc. etc. Very dynamic and cool!

However, in the beta during the orc fight on the beach, I got set on fire by a spell, so I ran into the water to put myself out.

Disappointingly, though, it did not work. frown

Hope that's because it's a beta.

The rain spell works I think, not sure what else does.

Why would walking in water stop the fire? Your feet are in water but the rest of your body is sill very dry and there for the fire to have fun with.

A character on fire that walks into water should at least do the bend-over-to-pick-something-up animation and splash water on themselves, IMO.

Yeah it would be nice if they add an feature to make the character splash on water.

Ideally yes, it would make sense....but we can keep coming up with situations like this infinitely and I'm not sure if it's reasonable to expect Larian to add in. If they do it then great, but similarly I think it's important for us to understand that this is a game and their budget and time is limited so the line has to be drawn somewhere I suppose.

Now wait a minute, they have been touting the interaction of elemental effects almost louder than they have the Ultima 7 stuff, and getting set on fire right next to water, it was the very first thing I tried!

Is it really so unfathomable that if a battle happens along the shores and you get set on fire, instead of casting a rain spell, you run into the ocean that's already there? I don't think so. Especially since its one of the first things that happens in the game, and I don't think I even had a rain spell!

If they're dropping the Ultima 7 schedules now, at least they should get all the basic environmental stuff in, imo. :hihi:

(Also, that ship landing on the beach seems to be on rails, and doesn't react to the waves and doesn't splash the water or anything... but perhaps that's for final polish?)
