No, they have the ability points of a level 1 character, everything else is fit for a level 3 character. I don't really mind that they start off with fewer ability points (although I wouldn't mind an increase on them), just that Jahan's got all the spells for Air Elementalist 1, but he is missing that Ability.

Yeah, I would agree they get the same stats and abilities (after all, they tend to be used to get other secondary abilities, which this harms a bit).

But just fine they have no talents by default or traits to make them not the focus of game like the 2 PC's are.

Jahan and Madora, at their starting level of 3 (which I wish was lower - see the rest of this thread) have the attributes of a level 3 character, the abilities of a level 1 character (in Jahan's case he doesn't even have that), and lack the talents of even a level 1 character.

Unlike the real characters they don't pick up any traits while adventuring (although were advertised as having traits), which already puts them at a disadvantage.

I think there's some questions here that only the developers can answer. Such as, are the followers (which are rarer than henchmen) supposed to be as powerful as the characters they accompany? Someone pointed out that the main characters should be better because they are "Source Hunters", but (again) Madora is a Source Hunter as well, and yet much weaker in comparison. Jahan is not a Source Hunter, but he is clearly something else.. something special. Not less, just different.

Is there an advantage of not using a full party? (exp bonus would be the one that immediately comes to mind)

I would check for myself but I can't play due to the game constantly crashing when I try to load my old save

Lone Wolf.

Otherwise; no.

Not that I can see. Unless you're taking the Lone Wolf perk to compensate, that is. The Source Hunters will get the same XP for a fight whether or not you have companions. If they are there, the companions get the same amount as you get. The XP "materializes out of thin air", it's not split.

Additionally, a new patch to fix the crashing dropped, so you could try again. If loading save games still crashes, try loading earlier and earlier ones until you find one that works.

The patch fixes the crashing in already existing saves too (I just loaded mine and walked into a 'crash zone' to try... graveyards up next)
