It should do something with it's weapons/spells. Did you fought it afterwards and see if it only did melee (I didn't, I should have... oh well, next time)
Now that you mention it, it might have worked. I did continue to fight afterwards, and it only used melee attacks. Then again, I was in melee range anyway. I'll test it another time.
