Ah, I see. You think that the game doesn't guide you enough. It could warn you when trying to leave the west harbour gate, it does warn you when trying to leave Cyseal from the north and east ((but maybe not if you already go out the west harbour gate). Did you see any of those warnings?
It could tell you about the companions if you ask NPC's for rumours. That's not in yet, but it it was, would it have helped (did you ask NPC's about rumours and such)?
Did you enter the tavern and see Madora walking around?
