I'll repost my Steam reply here, as well:

Wolfram (lost archaeologist) has level 4 Blacksmithing; for level 5 (at least in the beta) you need to learn it yourself.

Hammers can be used in crafting (ie tomato + hammer = tomato sauce).

A teleporter pyramid left on the ground will get automatically moved to a main character's inventory if you move to a different area. It shouldn't matter if it is shown on screen or not with rift travel, just whether the destination requires a loading screen.

It is deliberate that attacking doors and containers, etc, degrades durability faster than in combat.

There is an 'equipped' tab when trading, so you can have a vendor repair items without removing them.
