While I'm sure this topic has probably come up before, it's definitely something worth noting. I love crafting systems in games, and it's always one of my favourite part of games that have one. I think a great addition for the crafting in this game would be a subsection of the crafting part of the journal, dedicated to listing the successful combinations you have made so far.

Just a simple, short entry for each such as "I tried combining arrow shaft and knockdown arrowhead, and it created Knockdown Arrow!"

Or even just a page with dot points and "X + Y = Z"
"Hair + Hair = Thread"
"Axe + Log = Branch + Wood Chips"

Etc. I think that any player who put a lot of time into crafting would eventually get frustrated trying to remember the specific combinations needed to make basic items or precursors for more important items, especially once you get into the less intuitive combinations.

Already I've (on several occasions) accidentally made the wrong items by making close-but-different combinations (such as trying to make a spear but accidentally making an arrow shaft instead because you used the knife not the dagger).

Yeah, people have made this suggestion before for this, and it's definitely a good idea.

Same. Wouldn't mind that crafting idea.

Our characters should definitely be able to remember what they made, because we obviously arent capable. Yes. Thats the essence of an RPG. Making characters that are smarter then us.

(this is not a joke) :P

I don't agree to your theory. For me, I've got far more important things to remember "in real life" then what can be crafted in a video game. Things like that this I just don't bother with, unless it is absolutely required to solve a puzzle. Other then sharpening melee equipment, I don't plan on using crafting. Now if the requested feature is added, that is a different story smile

I'm not sure if that requires level 1 or 2 crafting to sharpen a sword on the grinding wheel behind the blacksmith house.

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

About the item creation the should allow you to have blunders as well...

-For Example-

Using a sharpening wheel where you trying to make a sharpen sword but with no experience of black smiting and you should create a dagger from lack of experience..

And other silly things just from lack of experience...

I just realized that I can make a cooking pot helmet. That's it game complete 10/10.

Hey, the cookpot helmet is working pretty well for Sir Cadwell over in TESO...

What I'd REALLY like in a recipe journal is the ability to use the journal entry to activate the crafting rather than having to drag things around ad nauseum in inventory. This is particularly true for things that you tend to craft in bulk. Better still if it will search the inventories of all characters present for the materials so that you don't have to deal with that juggling aspect either.

Yeah, some good ideas - maybe you all should check out the "Beta Wishlist" thread where this has been discussed in some detail, along with some cool mockup images made by Aramintai.
