Wait, so unless I am incorrect. People who Pre-Purchased through steam have no option to upgrade to the Collector's Edition. That is awesome!

A digital version of the Collector's Edition hasn't been mentioned, either. That doesn't necessarily mean there will not be one, or that if there is there will be no way to upgrade.
I would assume Larian will provide more details at least when pre-orders for digital version are announced (for GOG, etc), if not sooner (maybe next kickstarter update, or something).
Maybe there is still stuff to sort out before they can confirm anything about the possibility of upgrading.

When the details on the CE were released last week, I posted some questions regarding it and Steam myself (and am still hoping Larian Studios can provide some answers, particularly since the CE is "limited" in quantity).
1) Will there be a digitial CE available through Steam that contains the DLC advertised in the physical CE (The Golden Grail, Zandalor's Trunk of Epic Intelligence, Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity, and perhaps a digital copy of the soundtrack)? If so, can you elaborate on the price?
I realize the update page states "No other editions are planned", but to not sell a digital CE on Steam seems like an odd choice, so I'm just looking for clarification.
2) Will there be an upgrade option for players who already own a copy of Divinity : OS through Steam's Early Access, or must physical and/or digital CE copies be repurchased at full price?
3) The physical CE is advertised as coming with two Steam keys for co-op play. Will both of these Steam keys be considered "Collector Edition" copies, granting both players the same in-game digital DLC rewards (The Golden Grail, Zandalor's Trunk of Epic Intelligence)? Or, is only one key a CE key, and the other key a standard key?

Yah the whole thing is pretty lousy. It doesn't make me want to ever purchase another game from them if this how 'disposable' we are as customers.

Not getting a response to questions about the D:OS release one weekday after the Collector's Edition was announced is hardly grounds to assume Larian suddenly figures current customers are disposable.

I was thinking about messaging them regarding this and they still haven't got back to me!! Why do they hate me?

Not getting a response to questions about the D:OS release one weekday after the Collector's Edition was announced is hardly grounds to assume Larian suddenly figures current customers are disposable. Very true, although honestly this should have been handled better. If it was just a collector's edition, the amount of time it's taking to get a response on the CE questions wouldn't be a big deal. But when you put a limited edition CE out there for sale and essentially saying "act fast, only 1500 are available!", you should probably plan on getting a lot of CE questions answered that same day. Better still, have a FAQ with the answers to these (fairly obvious) questions ready to go the day you put the CE on sale. It's not like the announcement caught the studio by surprise, they've been talking about it now for the better part of a month. I suspect people will be even more annoyed (and understandably so) if the questions aren't answered before the 1500 CE's run out.

It'd be quite nice if we could get the CE, minus 1 Steam key and with our initial early purchase deducted. But I doubt we would be treated so nicely.

Logistically, that would mean separate production runs, or manually removing/adjusting codes from boxes. Given the lower margins for retail, giving the retail distributors their cut as well as deducting the full digital price (part of which is the digital distributor's cut) could end up a net loss.

Interesting news or lack thereof. I was waiting on some upgraded version to hit STEAM before buying it. I couldn't care less for physical toys and what-nots since those just end up on a shelf or stuffed in a drawer anyway. Would love some digital goodies though. Willing to pay for those.

as previously mentionned Larian said they will not release any other collector version. As for the bargain if you already bought the game through SEA or pledge on KS, I assume it won't happen, it would be a real headache...

as previously mentionned Larian said they will not release any other collector version. The problem there is I've seen other developers use similar wording and then show up with a "digital deluxe edition" on Steam, and then argue that it's not a Collector's Edition. So, it doesn't hurt to ask.

yeah of course ! I mean, from a personal point of view I don't give a damn as I will have both my Ks edition AND the collector... being a bit less selfish, a special digital delux edition for KS and SEA should be a nice way to reward the buyers for their trust in D:OS and I think it is not that much work.
This said, the decision is not mine and I only quoted what Larian said about that

The "No other editions are planned" in the kickstarter update is after a list of physical Collector's Edition releases, which I took to mean it was specific to retail releases.

I own the game on Early Access (was impatient yeah <.<) as well as ordered for the Collector's Edition recently. Would it be possible to let us say, tie the DLCs provided with CE to the current game at Steam? Or do we use one of the CE keys? Assuming their only difference would be the digital goodies, nothing more.

no, as I said in another topic, the DLC will be more likely some code that you will have to enter so I assume they can be enter on whatever version of the game you want

There will be a digital collectors edition. We're still working out the details with Steam and hope to announce details asap. We'll also make sure there's an upgrade path from the regular edition. People who get the retail collector's edition should have all the content that's in the digital collectors edition.

Good to know, although I have to say that people on Steam are still waiting for the "Imperial Edition" DLC to be available for Dragon Commander.
