I agree with the DOT damage of many spells/elements is too great and it works both ways and by reducing it, it should make the game/combat better both ways. If we can get our stuff off first, it devastates groups of enemies too quickly.
Reading the nice details Stabey gives, is very much like what I experience, but I'm the one getting on top the enemies quickly like that. Hence why I feel the game is too easy overall, once you gain Initiative on the enemies and gain a good understanding of the game. I'm devastating them with elements and such right from the start, I don't go into a defensive mode all that often.
But dropping DOT damages down and what seems like double dipping damages per round, that will make them and us tougher, giving battles more length and epic'ness to them.
