Most people don't really think it's that exploitable. Right now loot is common enough. "Don't get what I want from a boss or chest? There's another one in two minutes." If I can't use a thing, I can probably sell it and buy a thing which I can use instead.
Right now I am doing some save scumming, but for spellbooks, because two chests in the burial mounds treasure chamber always spawn one. And the only reason why I'm doing this is because the vendors spell selection has been changed/broken in the last patch and they don't sell what I want. If they did, I could just sell these books and buy the thing I wanted. I am not enjoying savescumming for books, but I'm getting tired of fighting with a hand behind my back because the vendor RNG doesn't like me.
