I thought, it might be a good idea to make a separate thread about this so i dont just randomly post pis like this one in other threads.

This one could be an excellent walpaper, if only the Ui could be removed.

Also, all of the ones i post are made on medium graphical options, with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering completely turned off, as well as depth of field and other such fancy stuff.

The only things that i leave on are the shadows.

In my mind, i see this amount of zooming out as the maximum that should be allowed. But it could be lowered a little bit too.

The most important thing would be to have it and to leave the current tilting effects-abilities as is.
When you zoom out or trick the camera into zooming out now, when you scroll the wheel to get as close as you can - the camera also tilts its angle. Which is Great.

With how lush and detailed the game is, you can easily spend a day making 100's of wallpapers and find it difficult to find your favorite. Your 2nd pick is a fair amount of zooming out that should be allowed. Other then tricking the camera, I've been having trouble trying to hack the game files (similar to changing the camera rotate from 30 to 45 degrees) so I can zoom out much further.

If you zoom out too far with high graphic settings, the game world gets very blurry. I'm not seeing the blurriness in your pictures so it must be a "feature" with full graphic settings. I'll have to mess around with that and see what I can do to kill that blurriness.

Great topic for discussion!

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

You should actually turn off the Depth of Field effect, which creates the blurry distant background.

Wish i could see how the game looks with antialiasing, anisotropy, high everything on. (except the depth of field of course)

well, maybe after the summer...

The game is truly beautiful at max settings. I love the style choices the developers have made and the palettes they have chosen. The game truly has character and is immediately recognizable.

Depth of Field off solved all the 'blurry when too zoomed' issues for me.

The only issue I can see with too much zoom so far is in some cases the screen is covered by leaves if going back too far, probably due to the floating trees they showed in one of the updates. I suppose those neeed to go higher if more zoomed is allowed...

But yeah, I also want more zoom.

Managed to pull off this little trick of night time perspective.
However pretty this game is, it looks even prettier in the night.

These are large image files, thus why I didn't post them on the actual thread, as combined, both are 9MB in size and I know some people in remote areas have poor band-with.

There are a few other areas in the game I've been able to do something similar, this just happened to be the fastest place for me to go. This has the anti-aliasing enabled.

EDIT:
Bah!, forgot it saves by default in .png so a lot of quality was lost. I've got a BMP one up for where ZixZax is, unfortunately there is an upper level roof that made me zoom in a bit more then I wanted to. Still going down in quality from a 32-bit game to a 24-bit BMP file though frown

I guess thats with the 360 rotation enabled then. Very nice.

While it is possible to zoom out much further then in my shots, i think that it way too much for this game. When i scroll in from that maximum distance, and i get to the maximum zoom in that allows - which you see in my screenshots - that would be the maximum zoom out i would like to see enabled in the game.

It only looks more distant in a pic or two because you can move characters without moving the camera position, so they practically walk off into the distance.

That closest zoom-in that can be made from the maximum zoom out trick, is probably the perfect distance for the game zoom-out feature that i would like to see.
It enables you to see forward, into the distance, a lot more then any bigger zoom out, which moves the camera into the top-down perspective that looks too distant and more fit for some RTS game.

Yeh, doubling how we can zoom out would be perfect. Though in that first pic, where you see the two ghosts on the pier was where my character was. In the second screenshot I did use the hack for the camera rotation to go 45 degrees instead of 30 and it has made a huge difference in my game play experience without showing the "uncompleted" areas.

I've even found an unused trapdoor outside of the church that you cannot get to. It is on the north side, if that giant tree by the entrance was removed, you could get to it. I'm guessing you will be able to get to it in the full version.

That trap door is accessible from the inside of the church. Which is its actual role and use, but only if you have high enough Perception to see it.
