Unfortunately they got caught out by the dice situation so now they have to send hundreds of apology letters and offer refunds all while still talking to GOG and figure out the upgrade business with Steam for SEA buyers and so on. Not to mention still ironing out all the bugs to get the game ready for release and needing to sort out the derailed copy of the game that needs to get age rating. Ideally yes, it would be optimal for people to know all about both CEs before jumping without risk of being left without the game but unfortunately this is life, things aren't simple and complications happen.
