At last I managed to use telekinesis. I do not know but maybe this may help some of you finding this skill difficult to master.

Once you activate the spell and point on an object...... YOU DO NOT DRAG THE OBJECT BUT DOUBLE CLICK ON THE OBJECT....... and voila the object is now in your inventory.

Item you want to pick up have to be in telekinesis range, and then right click to activate telekinesis, and left click on the item to pick it up.

I think only one click is enough.
