Hey guys! I realize that this is the Beta and its kind of a personal gripe..but with a game as gigantic and with as much depth as this, the fact that we have to keep starting over 10-15 hours into the game is driving us nuts! haha. The game is incredible, so its hard to put down..and I know that its just a beta, but it makes it hard to test anything high end for us with our schedules, because by the time we get far into the game, you guys roll out a new patch and we have to start over.
Is there any way at all of continuing on to new content without having to completely start over?
As much as I love the game and understand the meaning of Beta, I feel like giving players the ability to play it before its released is way better if they can actually play through it completely before it gets wiped and we have to retry. Haha..otherwise, why not just wait until to release to purchase it if we can't really delve into the game until its released anyways?
Again, I absolutely love the game, so I don't want it to come across as a huge complaint, its just starting to suck that everytime we get excited about upcoming new content, we have to make our characters and start from the beginning of the story again. Lol. Is there any way we can bypass this?

Unfortunately, it is because the game has that much depth that saves become incompatible. There were lots of changes to stats, skills, abilities, talents, etc, which would make importing old saves a challenge, and make tracking down bugs unnecessarily complicated.
You can disable auto-updating for the game in Steam (and if you let the update start and pause the download, you can leave it that way indefinitely and continue with the previous version). I don't think you can revert to a previous version, though.

The beta is not for playing the same saved games continuously, the beta is not for playing the entire game early, the beta is not for starting now and having saves transfer to the full version.
The beta is for TESTING. It's for testing balance, finding bugs, that kind of thing. Playing the old version is not particularly helpful, not even to you, since the beta saves still won't be compatible with the full version.

I understand its for TESTING. which is why I mentioned ( repeatedly so ) that my main gripe was that I paid for the game to help test it, and I can't seem to find the time to properly get far into the game and beta test the high end abilities/late game storyline etc. How can I test for balance and bugs end game if I can't get there before we have to start over?
I know what a beta is.
I know some people have went through the game multiple times, but I don't have as open of a schedule, so if I pay 70 bucks to get the game for me and a friend, it'd be nice to be able to not play the same few hours of gameplay over and over for weeks until its released. Sorry if that upsets you. lol
So, will the final save breaking patch go in June 20? I guess I can just aim to start playing then.

No one can test the high end abilities and late game storyline because they aren't in the public beta. It's just the one map and there's only really enough XP there to reach about level 10-12.

You can restore to a previous version; I did this because I wasn't happy with the updates. Just figured I'd mention this.

You can do that, but I don't see how putting on blinders is going to help. The beta will end on June 20th, and the the changed game will go live, whether or not you give feedback.

Sure your progress may be lost, sure you may not have time. But that is not a valid argument to waste time for making old saves work when there are more pressing matters. Old saves could introduce new bugs that might have nothing to do with new build and that would bring in same false problems and take away from actual fixing. +more people experience content from start and can report many new things. If you don't have the time and this annoys you then I can only offer you to wait till 20th. You can also disable Steam's auto-update for D:OS

Like I said, I'll just wait, no big deal. Its a lovely game, but I just figured the later content needed testing too. And as I stated, I know what beta is. Beta is testing. But like I said before, I figured they would want to test the entire game, and not just the first half or so.
I've already bought two copies and I absolutely love the game, so I don't want to come across as an ass...I was just stating that its a bit disheartening that I can't test the high end content because every week or two my save files are bust, that's all. I'm still looking forward to it immensely.

If it's any relief, no-one outside Larian itself can test High End Content... since there's no way to get out of Cyseal in any of the beta versions.
