No, I have not specifically logged instances of problems and provided quotes. I can however, tell the difference between a couple and a lot.

Let me ask you, then, in your experience how many people have you seen confused about the difference between single/multiplayer game, vs the number that don't know how to invite someone into their game?

Right. You can either have a 2 step process where everyone has to check their settings first and then start a game (or start a game, in some cases wonder why it doesn't work, and then check their settings), or you have 2 buttons that start a game with appropriate settings.
