Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity Original Sin - Beta Purpose behind the Single/Multiplayer option?

I'll admit, by the time i got to page 3 I completely forgot what was on page 1. There was too much back and forth with the "this is what it does!" and "you're missing my point" stuff going on. It really is a superfluous option but I think we're just overthinking it.

I do understand that multiplayer is the exact same as singleplayer if you don't have a friend that wants to join you, and it doesn't really convey that point.

To me the buttons meant:

Do I want to play with a friend? Multiplayer.

Do I want to play alone and not be bothered? Singleplayer.
