Biggest issue for me is when I'm playing multiplayer my friend will lose control of his main character and it will be chained to me so he is left playing Jahan. If it happens in the middle of combat it is fixable, I just unchain him and my friend takes him back, but if it happens at the end of combat it is not possible to give his character back so we just have to reload or rage quit.
When you hit escape, the first option at the top of the menu should be "Assign Party Members". That's a co-op only button and it should let the host assign companions to either player.
