Ever since the Source Hunter DLC pack was introduced to Steam, people have been having problems purchasing it. And people, like myself, who have tried to contact Steam regarding this issue are running into a brickwall. At this point it seems like this is something Larian Studios is going to have to take a hand in fixing.

The problem is this: for many (although apparently not all) of us who already own Divinity : OS on Steam (not the Digital Collector's Edition, but one of the other two versions that have been available), we receive the following error when attempting to purchase the Source Hunter DLC pack:

"Your purchase could not be completed because it looks like you already own one of the games you are trying to buy. Please check your account and your cart to verify you are buying an item you do not already own."

If you try to work around this problem by instead purchasing the Source Hunter DLC pack as a "gift" and then "gifting" it to yourself, you receive this error message:

"Sorry, an error has occurred:

All the games in this guest pass redemption request are already owned by the user."

The gist of it is this: Steam erroneously believes that many Divinity : OS early-access purchasers already own or have access to the DLC content despite the fact that we don't. That is making it impossible for us to purchase your DLC package.

Can you please look into this? Individual users contacting Steam's support is not going to get this problem resolved (many weeks later, it still exists). The developer contacting Steam, however, is going to have much better luck (especially if the inquiry starts with something akin to "why are you costing us sales?") wink

Yeah, there's someone I gave my soon-to-be-expiring spare Kickstarter Beta key to who told me he can't buy the whole thing because "he already owns it". If this could be fixed before the -20% sale ends as soon as possible...

Sounds like a problem on Steam's end with how they license and track licensed content....I hope Larian can help but I don't think they have anything to do with this at all....maybe Larian telling Steam to pull their heads out of their asses might work but I wouldn't hold my breath. Much like dealing with any publisher, getting common sense to be comprehensible by Steam is probably a lost cause.

Yeah, that is pretty much the request at this point. smile

I've purchased 3 (or 4.. lost count) copies of Divinity : OS through Steam, the physical collector's edition (mainly for the box).. I am trying to give you more money, Swen, but Steam won't let me..! cry

If you can't buy the game because you have the timed early access, you should still be able to buy it as a gift. Then you can just gift it to yourself after the early access time runs out.

I don't think I have timed early access? Unless everyone's early access is considered "timed"?

Kickstarter alpha/beta keys will be revoked on release (and new keys issued for wherever the backer selects).

I didn't do Kickstarter, I went through the Steam Early Access. I wonder if they'll be handled differently or the same. For every SEA game I've purchased there was only just one key, and adding it to your Steam library simply allowed access prior to the game's release and then seamlessly into and beyond launch with no further player intervention required.

The SEA versions should just continue into the release.

I bought the Source Hunter DLC today, got the confirmation email from Steam. The store page doesn't show that I own it, but if I try buying it a second time it tells me I own it already.

Yep, that falls into the "for many (although apparently not all) of us" clause of what I said. Not everyone seems to be having the same problem.

There has been some suggestions that it may only be impacting people who purchased one form of Divinity : OS over another. Originally the game was sold in two forms - the standard edition that had one copy of the game, and the deluxe edition that had two copies of the game and a few of the older Divinity games. That later edition is no longer available. Note: this is not the same thing as the Digital Collector's Edition that replaced it. Unlike the Digital Collector's Edition, the deluxe edition did not include any of the items of the Source Hunter DLC pack.

isn't this just because it is not yet available?

No, some people have been able to add the DLC pack successfully to their accounts.

It's not an issue of not being able to access the content in the game (that won't be available until post-launch). It's an issue of not even being able to purchase the DLC pack (which, to add to the frustration is in the middle of a 48 hour discount-sale window).
