i had a similar issue. try to verify your file cache by the steam client*. i had to do it twice but everything was well again afterwards.

1) right click on DO:S in your game library
2) click on properties
3) go to the local files tab
4) click verify integrity of game cache
5) prepare to wait some time while it checks (a few minutes).
