Maybe you LOVE the fact that, in this game, when you do a mistake, the game basically kills you for your ineptitude.
I LOVE this game for same reason
As someone with a full time job and not as much time on my hands for clicking speed and excellence and far less patience for dumb AI I'll switch this game on easy and console command my way through max stats in a heartbeat. I play for the story and branching and have no patience or desire for childish shenanigans like "look how kewl I is, all supa herdcoar adn old-skewl".
Why are people attracted to being miserable? Sure you can master it all but for a while you will die A LOT and what is there to be gained from mastering super hard difficulties other than a sense of achievement nobody cares about and the only real thing you've achieved was to waste a whole lot of time repeating(and probably skipping) a bunch of time consuming sections over and over and over and over and over again to the point they became meaningless because you already knew all about them. That same time can be far better spent doing two playthroughs and experiencing different story branches and endings and overall a far more positive experience.
If I want to be super hardcore in mindless repetition to master the pointless I'll just smack my head into a brick wall for a few hours and then brag about how super hardcore that is....but I'm not going to do it because that sh** hurts and I lack a pathological obsession for torturing myself pointlessly. I can feel like my life is fulfilled enough without mastering the art of killing a boss in a 40 hour fight(not counting retries) just to show it can be done with a toothpick rather than the mega sword of boss slaying that would do the same in five minutes.
