Do not be misleading large amount of video memory, even an old 8800 GT to show the best results, as it is at least twice the performance, despite the smaller amount of video memory.
GT 540m - designed for simple games, browsing the Web and watching videos, it's not a gaming video card and you should not rely on the 30-60 frames per second even at minimum settings.

Well I was under the impression that it most certainly did meet the minimum requirements of this game. To say that the card is just designed for web browsing and videos is just daft. I see Guild Wars 2 has been mentioned in this thread. The 540m handles that with ease so it is very odd that it can't cope with this game.

Hey, this is extremely dissapointing news... I've just finished Watch Dogs on gt540m with i5, all on medium, 1600x900, and you're telling me this graphics card is not enough for Original Sin? I hope you just have some mess in your OS and this is why game runs so badly wink

On the other hand medium settings are enough, who cares about graphics in this awesome game !!!

@Pointman stop telling this nosense about notebooks, gt540m with i7 should cope with every recent game

Yeah was able to play watchdogs on med-high on 1920x1080. It just feels ridiculous that an isometric game like D:OS would need better specs than a massive open world game. I'm fairly certain that this is an optimization issue. It is still in beta but I still hope Larian would read this thread and optimize the game for nvidia cards (as it seems AMD cards are running them fine) by release day.

Say you have a stable 60 fps on your video card with medium settings? Perhaps you have a special magic video card or most likely you played on minimum settings with terrible lag.

^There is a big difference between VHQ (Very High Quality) and Medium.

When you take shadows and lightning down on most engines you get large FPS bumps. Perhaps I'll do a caparison on my system for Watch Dogs Medium vs VHQ. These sliders we get are why a lot of people can still run new games like this with very old hardware. And to be honest, it still looks pretty good, the high end settings imo you get the law of diminishing returns kicking in.

Did I say anything about 60 fps? 20 fps is enough for me. Wolfenstein: New Order easily runs in 30+ fps. 60 fps is for high-end hardware and gt540m is not the one.

Besides the point of all this fuss is that D:OS seems to have equal requirements as Watch Dogs, and this is ridiculous.

But in a few hours everything will be clear. I'll run it also on 3870hd and see if it's really better optimized for AMD.

Yeah, years ago there was a huge difference between Low/Medium/High, now if you only play the game in good resolution all these details don't make very impressive difference.

I set all Watch Dogs to ultra just for fun, and yeah, it looks nice, but in Low/Medium I was also impressed by the effects (especially rain/sun/lightning at night).

It's released now! People tell me if the optimization is better now since I'm at work and cannot try it for another 7 hours

My experience:

Runs a heck of a lot faster now on release. Everything is smooth and the loading screens are blazing fast. I never had much issues with camera stuttering, so I can't really comment on that.

Is it just load time or FPS that you feel it's running faster?

I can only comment on load times with certainty. As I said, I didn't have any problems with frame rate before.

The load times have definitely improved, but FPS wise is still unchanged unfortunately frown

Works great on gt540m, all on high, aa x2, af x4, only shadows set to medium, the only minor problems are the menu wich is a bit laggy and the intro is stuttering

What FPS do you end up with?
Could this be a CPU issue as well? Perhaps threaded optimization is an issue with PCs with multiple cores?

In some places like the warehouse FPS drops to 20, but in the rest of locations it runs easily with 30+. When I turn off AA (I meant FXAA, not x2) and AF game runs everywhere in ~30 fps. It's totally smooth for me. And these are FRAPS results, so these framerates are probably even higher.

I can confirm now that this is a CPU Bottleneck issue. Out of my i7's cores, only one is being used and this is only eating up 50% of the capacity as well. Anyone know how to address this issue?
