I'm just wondering if there is likely to be a lot of optimisation yet to happen before the final product. On my laptop, I get an average of 20fps on medium settings and indeed the same performance out of low. I hoped the game would run a little better as I get much better performance on games that appear to be a bit more demanding.

My specs are

Intel i7 quad core
8gb RAM
Nvidia GT540m 2GB.

Wow!!!I cound`t think that`s possible
My specs are
Core 2Duo 4400+
3Gb Ram
Nvidia GT 640 2GB
I have 15-25 FPS all settings are maxed out
Maybe my computer too slow, but I hope there will be more optimisation!

Sounds like I should be getting MUCH higher fps on medium then!

I should add as well that this is on 720p resolution too. The game seems to suggest ultra settings for me but its unplayable on ultra.

The Nvidia GT540m 2GB is not a very performant card - it should run the game with medium settings (if you use the latest driver).
You have a AiO or a mobile computer and your i7 processor has an integrated graphic-'card'.
Maybe you are not using the GT540m? Take a look on this document how to switch a application to a different card.

The laptop was entirely custom built. It only has the GT540m. There is no integrated card as far as I'm aware anyway. Even on Ultra, the graphics don't look THAT great in the game. They are probably about on par with or even lesser than something like Torchlight 2 at max setting.

But you know that every Intel i7 (exept the Xeons) has a gaphic "card"/core inside?
So it doesn't matter if your laptop was custom build. Please use Intel ARK with your processor-identifier.
I think that you don't use the GT540m.

I have a GTX760M and have really low frames as well.
I've used Nvidia Control Panel to force use the GPU instead of the integrated but it does not seem to make much of a difference.

If you have SLI enabled/forced in the NV control panel make sure to disable it in the D:OS profile, as the game doesn't seem to like it and frame rates will be really really low.

(With the same graphics settings, I get ~10 fps with SLI enabled and ~70 with it disabled)

Dude notebook is not designed for gaming.
You wanted a normal performance of a video card with 128-bit memory bus, the bandwidth is ten times less than in the mid-end graphics card [Linked Image]

I'm able to run other games fine with my Mobile GTX card. BF4 in mid-high at 50fps, I don't see how Divinity is nearly as demanding for how it looks on high settings. The only explanation is optimization.

EDIT: Actually tried turning off my integrated card from device manager and now it runs at 1 FPS. I'm pretty sure now that it's because the game isn't detecting my NVIDIA GPU for some reason. I've tried forcing it through NVIDIA control panel but clearly it's still defaulting to the integrated card and once you disable that it runs on nothing lol

Gaming laptops are designed for gaming last I heard. The graphics card should be more than capable of running this game as it handles far prettier titles a lot better.

Well you can easily test this

In the nvidia control panel, select the "Desktop" menu at the very top and make sure that "Add 'Run with graphics processor' to Context Menu" is checked.

Then right click on the game exe or make a short-cut of it and select "Run with graphics processor ->" menu, and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor."

Graphically D:OS is most definitely VERY demanding as it has proper shadows, but you should get well above 30 fps even on a 540m

Let's start with the fact that the GT 540m does not meet minimum requirements of the game.
Do not be misleading large amount of video memory, even an old 8800 GT to show the best results, as it is at least twice the performance, despite the smaller amount of video memory.
GT 540m - designed for simple games, browsing the Web and watching videos, it's not a gaming video card and you should not rely on the 30-60 frames per second even at minimum settings.

It's not only him though, My GTX760M which is meant for gaming on laptops has very low frames. I'm quite sure that this is the case. Some games like Payday 2 had the same issue where regardless of you telling nvidia control panel to use the nvidia card for high performance tasks it still defaults to the integrated Intel card

The 540m and as mentioned the 760m should be able to run the game with things like shadows off at a decent frame. My older boy has had the 540m and now has a 640 something, either would in general run a game of this caliber. His newer one runs things like Guild Wars 2 with a good amount of bells and whistles at 60 fps. This being top down, you would think would be less stressful for a laptop.

The shadows are definitely a drain and turning them lower gives you more frames but even then it gives you probably an additional 3-4 frames at best. What is it in this game that is so demanding, I just don't get it. I also don't understand why the game asks for a higher graphics card to turn off high textures. They're crisp but not that much more crisp than other isometric games

This game does not seem to be too well optimized for nvidia -cards. Radeons do much better, even the slower ones.

Listen....my PC is average at best. Help. What do you need to know to help me? How does one measure FPS? I want this game to run like a dream. I also want to spend next to nothing. think
