Once you make a hay bed you can not move it, though it can be used repeatedly. You can make a bed in your inventory, however. Also, there is a portable bed in the house north of the cursed Abbey. If you return to the bridge and go north east, keeping close to the southern bank of the river, you can get to the house without running into many of the undead in the area.
PS there is about a 10 game-day limit on arranging an escort for the healers; after that they will move by themselves and the quest will remain uncompleted in your log. Most quests are not time limited; see

I better hop to it, because I have NO idea how long I spent wandering around the outskirts of Aleroth killing stuff <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" /> I killed all the orcs and cleared out the troll cave, and now my mage is, like, level 11.
