if I already have the game in my library, why do I need to revoke it?
If you gave away a kickstarter alpha/beta key (because you wanted to wait for release), then to get a digital copy of the game for yourself, you need to revoke the key you gave away.
Originally (and until very recently) the plan was to revoke all the free alpha/beta keys and re-issue keys for wherever kickstarter backers set. I guess as Larian was preparing for that, they determined that since most people want the Steam version, it would be easier to have the keys default to Steam and revoke as required than to revoke everything and re-issue a majority of Steam keys.
Care to provide a link to confirm this? I received an email from Larian last Friday stating:
Yes, there is a delay for those who wish to wait for the second production run of the DVD, to include the day one patch. That wasn't the case here, so I didn't mention that exception. Sorry for any confusion.
