I can't get madora to join my party because my companion won't let her, we don't even rock paper scissors for a resolution she justs says I don't think shes stable enough or some such and then she doesnt join... any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe try having your companion far away so they miss the conversation?

That really sucks with the random AI

Yep, just seperate your party, send some on pickpocketing or a stroll on the orc beach and do the hiring/discussing yourself.
