i left one pyramid in the black cove, used rift travel to get back to town only to find that the pyramid i left behind got somehow back into my inventory.

shouldnt the pyrmid stay were i left it in order to work as a teleporter beacon?

It mentions this in the game when you get them. It says it follows you around if you move too far. I left one out in the wilderness and used rift travel to return to town and it stayed where I put it, so it CAN be used as a beacon in certain conditions. Maybe it "follows" you if you put it in a dungeon or something? Like, it can only be used in the overworld? (I haven't been to the Black Cove yet, so I'm not sure if what I'm saying makes sense in that regard).

hm, funny. a "tip" shown when e.g. loading says something like "leave a pyramid in a dungeon in order to return quickly when going to town". ok, seems not to be a bug. rather a safety mechanism in order to not loose the pyramids.

Well let's say it's based simply on the distance you move away from the pyramid; it'd be good if it tells you you're going to move outside of the radius of it and are about to cause it to appear in your inventory. It's pretty oonfusing how it works now, particularly with the loading screen tip you mentioned.

You might have better luck leaving it outside the entrance of the dungeon, 4verse. During the beta it became pretty clear that some of these dungeons are placed on the same map as the outdoor maps, but waaaaaaay off in a corner somewhere where they're not normally seen or accessible except through a transition point (like a hatch on the ground, or other prop).

If it's measuring the actual physical distance between the town and where the dungeon is placed in reality (rather than pretending it's right underneath the above-ground entrance), it's little wonder the range is being exceeded and returning the pyramid to your inventory when you teleport out of a dungeon, across the entire map, and back to town.
