In the wastelands, I turn into a ghost and go across the lake and see the black ring entrance. I cannot enter it as a ghost, so I stand there. When I turn back into me, everything attacks me and I cannot run into black ring entrance. If I stand and fight, whether there or nearby, I die a miserable death even though my life does not reach zero. I died once and I had hardly lost any hit points. What is going on? What do I need to do to go in the black ring entrance? Even if I am right there clicking on it, I will not go in.

I had a similar experince there. I had a fight won and my life was about 75%, the next step I tokk I was dead. That was strange.

What are your resistances? Can you turn back to human close to the water and slowly make your way towards the entrance, or do even a couple ghosts overwhelm you? Can you turn human then quickly use a statuette, get to the entrance, turn human and enter? Figuring out why they can kill you so easily would be better than avoiding them, though.

When I turned from ghost back to human I managed to kill the mobs then went exploring a little before entering in. Problem was when I barely touched the water I just died instantly. My theory was maybe the water is more fatal from the inside. Not sure if this will help any though.

Thanks for your reply Raze. I have tried to turn back from being a ghost away from the black ring entrance but I am quickly attacked by specters and demons. I hack away at them, thinking I am winning, and then all of a sudden ... BAM ... I am dead, but my life is only half gone! And I sit there wondering why I died when I still had plenty of life points left. My resistances are lightning 95, fire 90, poison 95, and spirit 120. The fire walls I can withstand. Do the creatures use deathblow or something and my resistances are not high enough to save against it? Maybe I need more skill points in magic barrier, which I only have one skill point in. Thanks

That would be my next guess, as well. From the west / north side of the lake you can run a little bit into the water and just start taking damage; the slightest touch from the inside will kill you.

I thought you might have been hit with the negative resistance bug, and were just taking a lot of damage at once. Your resistances are fine; the ghosts do not use anything similar to DeathBlow, that I am aware of.

Is it even possible to enter the black ring stronghold when demons and ghosts are still alive? I once tried a long run but when i reached the entrance I couldn't enter. After some furious hacking and slashing, everything arround was turned into dust and then I could enter. I will not deny the fact that I was a littlebit nervous when I was looking for the entrance (what would you be when you are surrounded by hords of demons) so it could be that I just wasn't attentive enough to click on the right spot but still, I remember having the same experience.
