I am having the exact same issue that Nightwolfe, another user in the forums, is having.
"The files of mod 'Main' and/or its dependencies are invalid. This can be caused by corrupt files or some files may have been changed. You wont be able to play this mod in multiplayer."
I can't play multiplayer.
Moreover, when I chain my characters together they will not move as a unit. I have to manually move each character, which makes things pretty clunky.
Interestingly, when I verify integrity of game cache it says one file is corrupt or missing and downloads the file. If I do this *again* it says everything is good to go. When I start the game, I have the same issue. So then I RE-RE-verify, and it again claims one file is corrupt and redownloads.
I have tried the fixes that Raze mentioned to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas?

That error can also be caused by a missing configuration file. Try starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Shipping\EoCApp.exe' program file by right clicking and running as administrator. Then change some sound or graphics settings, exit and restart.

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and renaming the 'Divinity Original Sin' subfolder.
This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. Deleting or renaming it will get the game to recreate it on startup; playing the game from a different Windows user account would effectively do the same thing.

I started from EoCApp.exe as admin, changed settings, then restarted. Issue still there.
I deleted the Divinity Original Sin subfolder and created a new profile in game.
Nothing has worked yet.
Not sure what to do. Any other suggestions?

I'm not sure what else to try. Did you email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool?

Yeah, I emailed support, but didn't include the report.zip. If they provide a solution I'll post it here.

Did you ever get this resolved? Same problem here, four reinstalls and still same issue. The only thing I can think of that is remotely different about my machine is I run Steam from my D: drive, other than that I can't make sense of this. I have cleaned my registry after removing any trace of Larian or D:OS and reinstalled and tried with full local admin still no luck.
