Ok, it doesn't apply to spells like lightning bolt because it is targetted differently, but elemental bolt and meteor strike hit myself!!! Even if I have the pointer on an enemy, the blast hurts me instead (but the weird thing is sometimes the spell works if the enemy is BELOW me on screen, but above me it damages myself). This is really irritating, and worse seems to be the fault of a savegame, as a REALLY old savegame does not have this problem. Its unlikely anyone knows a fix for this...anyone got a savegame or trainer I can use?

P.S. maybe it was because I was cheating. I took advantage of the charm bug and slapped about 10 charms on a weapon.

I've never had that problem. I don't know how Meteorstrike would be able to backfire on you. It's a projectile that flies outward toward the enemy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

So far, none of my spells have ever dealt me any damage. I believe I've even walked over my own Hellspikes before, and not taken any damage. Perhaps, there is a long distance enemy sniper that is tagging you, and you think it's the spell?

100% positive this is not the case. The projectile doesn't leave, it just sorta hangs there and hurts me. Loading savegames doesn't help : I tried several savegames, all have the same problem. Only a really old one doesn't.

Do you have Resurrect, Deadly Trap or any summoning skills? If so, try them and see if they turn hostile on you, rather than friendly. Someone in the old forum had such a problem which effected Meteor Strike as well.

YES, that's a problem I've been having. I was wondering if it had to do with my trying to exploit the spell. I'd resurrect a monster, run away, and come back to find him hostile and no longer in resurrected form (he would look normal and drop exp and treasure all over again). Around that time period was when I made that uber sword with 10 charms, though...

So yes, when I res a monster it attacks me. Quite annoying, as it means I wasted a point on the skill.

Actually a resurrected monster will always go hostile if you run or teleport far enough away (most likely out of their sight range). You can use this repeatedly to build up experience or loot. The problem I was referring to would have resurrected creatures immediately turn hostile and attack.

I have not seen any problems like this associated with the charm pane bug; the only one I know of is the game will crash if the list of charms is long enough to cause the item's description to go off screen.

Perhaps the cheating has corrupted a size or range factor. Your size may have increased so that the spell starts inside you or the range might have become negative. Taking numbers outside their predetermined range can often cause bizare behaviour. I realise you didn't change any of these numbers, but bugs can sometimes flow out into other areas unexpectedly.
