I prefer mangas. *laughs*

Living in Asia gives you a huge advantage, mind. No need to suffer the abomination that is "dubs"; the animes I get to watch don't have parts cut off, characters' names edited into idiotic American names, plot altered so that it'll suit sheltered innocent babies, and so on.

Dubs are bad.

Originals are good.

I've checked out a few of what they mention here.
And I can honestly say that carying water to the sea would have been a lesser waste of time.

I disagree ...

I like Ninja scroll, blood - the last Vampire, the Guyver series, Ghost in the Shell, ...

On the other hand, maybe the original movies are better, but you have to keep in mind that not that many people in Europe/US can read Japanese , so the only chance we get the see an anime is the English dubbed version of the anime's.

But I'm thinking of learning Chinese ...

Ah, you see, the animes imported in my homeland have got voice-acting in my native language. However, the plot, characters' names, and other things remain unchanged. It's lovely, living in Asia.

I can also read katakana and hiragana, and a little of kanji. So...

Dubbing is such a joke.
Overhere they use subtitles. But in France and Germany they dub movies and things.
It's such a big laugh to see actors you know suddenly speak with a completely different voice and in another language.
Also, the language has changed. But not the names of the moviecharacters, the names of cities, the currency, ...
It's sooooo silly/stupid.

I've once seen the german Derrik speaking Chinese ! (Derrik is a german series of criminal / detective stories in the TV.)

Another thing was Arnold Schwarzenegge4r ("Terminator") speaking lines of the Terminator Movie in his Vienna accent ! I nearly burst of laughter ! (He actually comes from Austria / Österreich, and I think he comes there from Vienna / Wien, but I'm not fully sure.)

Yes... I seen some episodes of Derrik.
Horst Tappert or so was his name I think. He died last year I believe. It's the most popular German crimi ever and has been sold to a lot of countries worldwide.

Anime that I like? Hmmm.... My 'experiences' aren't that broad with this particular genre, but I guess I could name a few!

Let's see, one thing to note is that only a scant few (and I mean very few) of all the anime I own has english voice acting in it (Would I have it any other way? No way! ).

The first series I ever found was Tenchi Muyo!, curious and dazed after watching it on the Cartoon Network I soon found myself bereft of all conscious thought and immediately sought it out in it's subtitled form, and I wasn't dissapointed. It's a decent series with a few quirks here and there. I liked it atleast. It was a good first excursion.

The next few were of course, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star, both pretty decent in their own right, my first experience with each was also as english dubs on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. And Cowboy Bebop is hands down one of my favourites so far.

In my collection is also Weiß Kreuz, which was pretty good. Patlabor is also in there, but I haven't had time to watch all of it so far. I also have another called Serial Experiments Lain, which is awesome, it's a philosophical type anime so there are no 'real' action sequences, but it doesn't even need them.
There's also the Blue Seed anime I found not long ago, high marks from me, it just has a nice feel to it. A few other series I'm building on is Wild Arms and .hack//Sign (I felt I had to watch .hack//Sign because I'm currently into playing .hack//Infection on the PS2, and Wild Arms is just goofy fun ).

Then there's the recently arrived on my doorstep Inuyasha DVD complete series, which is pretty cool even though I haven't finished watching all of it. Compared to it's english dubbed version on the voice acting alone it gets high marks from me. I've been spoilt on Japanese audio for the rest of my life, but you don't see me complaining.

There's also a few anime movies I have laying around like; Vampire D & Vampire D: Bloodlust, Spriggan, Perfect Blue, Ninja Scroll, Demon City Shinjuku, and a few others. I must highly recommend Princess Mononoke, that's just a cool movie, and the english version has quality voice acting too.

Well, I may or may not have missed some things, but I try to be accurate!

Heh. Sorry for the post if it's alittle odd. But...I guess that's how I think - oddly.

@Setharmon: Yes, you're right about Derrik.

I didn't realized he has died ? Hm, must've slipped through my mind ...

The german "Tatoert" is also very popular, and new series coming from east germany unknown before the "Wiedervereinigung".

Based on "emotional value", here's my Top 9:

1. Scryed - Best series, ever! Has yet to be topped in my book. The story is basically about "alter" users, people with supernatural powers. Think X-Men, with much more tension - the character design is simply amazing, you care so much for everyone.

2. Naruto - a ninja series that is still in progress. Grabs you tight and won't let go. Each episode has more or less mean cliffhangers making you want more and more.

3. Angelic Layer - Cute series that distantly resembles Pokemon, but with more heart and spirit. Has a grand and unforgettable finale. Just adorable.

4. 3x3 Eyes - Fantasy, Magic, Mystery. Features one of the best main characters in any anime (Pai) and has a very good story.

5. Rurouni Kenshin - Looong and kind of sad story about a lone wanderer, a legendary manslayer. Recommended.

6. X-TV - Dark and mystic. Dreamlike even.

7. Read or Die - Three part OAV about people with very interesting supernatural powers.

8. Neon Genesis Evangelion - I guess everyone is familiar with this...

9. Infinite Ryvius - Space series, was made before Scryed by the same team. Similarly marvelous character design.

Hello ppl... haven't been around for a while...
anyway...
Cowboy Bebop is at the top of my list.... it's just classy anime...

then...liked Dragon Ball Z... but always thought the anime is a bit too slow and longwinded... the manga was better though...

Gundam Wing is quite a good series too..
watched patlabor too... btw.. anybody remember thundetcats??? was one of my favorites...

anyway read lots of comics... ones that remains my favourites were.... Kenji, Master Keaton... and legend of Kubo Yoshiharu... it's from the shoot series...
oh and one more... Blade of the immortal...

Astroboy is that one you can get here in Belgium by the "Standaard uitgeverij" . Never read anything from it so I don't know if it is good or not .

Didn't have seem many anime's yet . But from those I saw I din't like Angel Sanctuary and X the movie but I readed somewhere that AS is better when you see the series (I saw a cutted television movie I think)

The next anime I'm gonna look is Weiss Kreuz (When I find a website where I can buy all 5 dvd's on onces that means , http://www.amazonde.de only sells 3 out of the 5 and here in Belgium you can only buy the American Version wich is 10 Euro more expenseve that when I would buy them in Germany . Oh boy , yes I have a lot of problems *cry*

All anime's are to corny for me.
Sorry. Honest personal opinion.
I seen different ones once or twice but they are one of the few things in life I really can't care about.
I rather watch stuff like Scooby Doo (Not the movie ) or the Flintstones.

Excelent words from Gandhi, but GI Joe isn't a soldier with just one leg, or i'm wrong or he is great soldier, because i can´t remember.

does annybody remember a science fiction series (cartoon), the name begins with "star..???"
it's a cartoon, made by amerikans.
the toys (hasbro): when you pushed on a botton, the spaceship or vericle made a strange soound and a cannon or some wings just poped out of the toy.
the story was about good vs bad.
the bad had robots and humans in command.
and the good operated in our solarsystem.
the bad had triangular black space ships...
the time of this series whas about 1-2years after transformers and gi-joe
ok it's noyt mutch but it's some information.
