So with what I've seen on here and have been reading, are retroactive alterations to the main game not possible? If you want to add an NPC that ports you to a new area for example, and have him show up in any save, can that even be done?

I have an idea for some end game content I'd like to try putting together, but it looks like all mods must be started as a new game.

You can add things to the main campaign, not sure if an area port would work.(im assuming you mean back and forth porting)

Welp, best way to find out is to try it.

I created a mod with dependencies on Main, loaded Cyseal, added an object, saved. Load up the game, activate the mod, load a save file. Object isn't there. What step(s) have I missed?

I'm a little confused myself -- I've made some changes to some of the Generated data and have placed them as so:

$\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin\Mods\4Player_-_Test_1ddd6993-6d9b-4e71-a437-1195dd217cf6\Public\Main\Stats\Generated

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Mods\4Player_-_Test_1ddd6993-6d9b-4e71-a437-1195dd217cf6

So I have the mod in two different places. The mod is the 4 player mod downloaded from the forum here. I've activated the mod in the main menu of the game. I don't see my item mod changes in the game. Am I missing a step as well?

Could someone please elaborate on what's necessary to get your mod dependencies correct and where the files need to be placed?

The general rule I've observed is that the game reads mods from \Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin\Mods\%yourMod%.pak and Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Mods\%yourMod%\*.
However the editor and the game seem to work differently, as one will work with a setup the other won't.

Honestly at this point I've never seen someone add something to the main campaign. It's supposed to be possible, but nobody seems to know how to.

Along the same vein, is it even possible to make a separate level that you can use your main characters in, get loot, and go back to Main? Is importing or exporting characters between Mods/Main possible at all?
