Why does the game automatically stop if your 2 main characters die in combat? If I have a full party why can't I resurrect them? Even if I'm going to win a fight and res my characters I have to load a previous save because of this. There isn't any real logic to it. Why allow me to resurrect my main characters at all then? Probably the only thing I dislike about this game and it's actually become a rather stupid problem when roaming. What's even more ridiculous is the splash "your party has been defeated" on my screen. My party HASN'T been defeated! Only half of it has! Let me finish my fight!

The other two chars are not the primary chars and are not so dedicated to the cause so once the main chars are dead they steal the loot and run away :p

Because the story is about your two main protagonists, not your henchman/companions. I get what you're saying, though, and maybe Larian will change it in a future patch.

I understand that it's about the two main characters. But if one main character dies in battle I can resurrect them with any of my companions + the remaining main character. Why does that suddenly change when both die? It's absurd and inconvenient.

Design wise I'm with the OP, however I do like how DragonCommander looks at it.

This reminds me of playing Baldur's Gate. Every other character could be saved, but if the main guy so much as kissed a nymph or looked at a basilisk the wrong way and the game was over.

At least here you need two guys to go down instead of just one :P

Wait, so you don't load whenever any character dies?

REstart you say, dear DragonCommander ?
So you mean you start a brand new journey (New Game) ?
I like that ! Your my hero up !

I'll do the same, but only when my TWO Source Hunters die wink
Maybe my second Source Hunters can find somewhere a tomb with the inscriptions:
Here lies Tom & Sally -
they died together,
protecting the valley !

On 7th of february 2015 : I start a new adventure in the Divinity world of Original Sin,
it's a Fantastic Freaking Fabulous Funny ... it's my All Time Favorite One !

I think I have a solution to this complaint: make companions/henchies unable to cast resurrect.

Bam, now the defeat makes sense smile

I've decided to go even more hardcore

Whenever my main characters die, I uninstall the game and format my hard drive and then go buy a new copy of the game and start over.

This kind of thing should use the Attitude mechanic. If your companions like you enough to resurrect you, despite the knowledge that they could steal your loot and run away, then that should be what happens. However, if you mocked Modora's paranoia or Jahan's intellectualism too much, then they decide to abandon you, and it really is game over even though there were survivors.

I understand you meant your reply as a joke, but taking it seriously has more interesting results.

That actually would be quite a good solution
