How on earth do you solve the vase room weight challenge?

Assuming you have been stuck there like I was, there is a trick to this

Notice each button has a specific size
And now notice that if you explore, you find a "heavy barrel" (visible by holding ALT)
Elsewhere, there are mines, and where mines are.. are buttons

One of the buttons requires you to place a candle on it... the other a water bucket

This should make it fairly easy (I was stuck there like 30 minutes ,p)

The pressure buttons all take a specific weight.

One button takes candles.
One take the water bucket or the three books found in the room for a total weight of 2. I never found the water bucket and used the books.
One takes a vase nearby.
The last one takes the heavy barrel

A single book can take the place of the candles too.

ya found a post on steam forums about it.

So the weights of the smaller 2 are 1 and 2, the 1 the above the "heavy barrel".

(Sorry for the crude diagram...)

7.5 lbs. - Go down the stairs and go down the small corridor to your left, you will find a barrel there that is called "Heavy Barrel". Drag it into your inventory and place it on the 7.5 plate.

1.0 lbs. - Go down the stairs and grab a candle at the base of the stairs, drag it into your inventory and then place it on the 1.0 plate.

5.0 lbs. - Just about all of the vases (the intact ones) seems to weight 5.0 lbs. so just grab one, drag it into your inventory and place it on the 5.0 plate.

2.0 lbs. - (Double 1.0) Go down the stairs and grab 2 candles from the base of the stairs and drag them into your inventory, then stack them on the 2.0 plate.

If your telekinesis skill is good enough you don't really need to drag anything into your inventory, you can just move stuff around. If it's a 1 or something, that may get annoying.

Cheers!

Thank you!
But where did you find out what weight that was needed? Couldn't find any books or hints

^This. It doesn't help that putting something heavier than needed on it still causes the sound and animation to be played.

Seriously guys, it wasn't that hard.

1. The statue tells you to balance things - so it was pretty apparent it had something to do with weights on the buttons.
2. Each button had a different size - so it was fair to guess that bigger buttons needed more weight.
3. I started by putting a vase on all buttons (5 lbs). Then I noticed one force fields was down. I remove vases until I found which one caused it.
4. From then all it needed as was some experimenting with different weights. I had one character standing at the force fields so I could quickly see if I had the right weight.
5. I started with the small one piling books until it unlocked. (1 lbs)
6. I dumped the heaving barrel on the big one. (7.5 lbs)
7. And the second smallest button had to be between 1-5 lbs so I just dumped metal scraps in increments of 0.5 lbs until it opened.

It all took 10-20 minutes.

The clue mentions balancing the scales. Scales require moving weights on and off them to get them balanced. This is not an item that most people use anymore, so the developers (and myself) might be showing their age.

Honestly, while there are specific items that work... you can use any combination that adds up to the right weights.
