Meanwhile I have generated a D:OS configuration directory on my laptop, set up the most conservative graphics settings I could, and transferred the files to the problem machine. The game still crashes, but at least the analysis tool doesn't anymore because it can now find the previously missing config files. (Really, just catch that exception!

I'll send an e-mail to supportdos@larian.com later today or tomorrow morning, including the zip file and the windows logs, a link to the dump files and this thread, accompanied by a concise description of the problem.
