I reported this same issue a while back in Egg's thread, and I have to say I am extremely disappointed that this hasn't been fixed yet. It seems like instead of actually fixing the issue, you just say "send a full bug report to this address" to make it seem like you're actually doing something about it. When in reality nothing is being done about it. You don't even need a report of this issue. FPS DROPS GRADUALLY OVER TIME, TRIGGERED BY NPC CONVERSATIONS AND BATTLES. CAN ONLY BE FIXED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BY SAVING. AFTER A WHILE THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO RELOAD THE GAME. HARDWARE, OPERATING SYSTEM AND SETTINGS MAKE NO DIFFERENCE. THE PROBLEM IS CONTAINED WITHIN THE GAME ITSELF.

It is absolutely ridiculous that Larian has started concentrating on other projects, when the game is in this state. This isn't a new problem. I've seen exactly the same problem in many threads. What really annoys me is the fact that every patch has some minor/irrelevant bug fixes and stuff, but there is practically NO acknowledgement of this issue. Every single member of Larian Studios should be working on this issue non-stop until it is FIXED. Only after it is fixed, should ANY member of the Larian team start working on other projects or on fixing minor bugs. And if it can't be fixed, at least have the guts to tell us that it can't. Instead they are working on other stuff, and fixing minor bugs that aren't a problem. I guess because fixing silly bugs is much easier, and makes it look like you are actually doing something. All the while, ignoring the elephant in the room.

Very disappointing indeed. If I were to guess - I'd say that this issue has indeed been investigated a long time ago - and I imagine the conclusion was that it would require far too much effort/time/money to fix, and the fact that it can be "fixed" temporarily by saving and reloading meant that they didn't feel as much pressure to actually fix it. Despite the fact that this completely shatters immersion, makes gamers feel like they have wasted their money, and will result in a decrease in future purchases of games made by Larian.

What I would like to see is some actual ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of this issue, and also an explanation as to WHY it hasn't been fixed yet, and WHY they have concentrated on fixing EVERYTHING ELSE except this game-breaking issue. Although I seriously doubt this will happen. Is it not someone's job to do these things?

@ Raze - "There are several things being done to improve performance and multithreading. See the latest kickstarter update video and blog post.
The same engine is being used for Larian's next projects, so any improvements made for them will help D:OS, as well, as long as it is possible to maintain compatibility."

This is the problem. Why have they done several things to "increase performance" without first addressing this issue? Why have they even spent 1 second working on multithreading until this issue is fixed? Why has someone even made a video, or wrote a blog post BEFORE THIS ISSUE WAS FIXED. WHY HAVE THEY STARTED A NEW PROJECT, BEFORE THEY FIXED THIS ISSUE!!! I think you get the point. Every. Single. Member. Of. Larian. Studios. Should. Work. On. This. Issue. And. Only. This. Issue. Until. It. Is. Fixed. Then. And. ONLY. Then. May. Any. Member. Of. Larian. Studios. Begin. Work. On. ANYTHING. Else.

It's pretty simple really.

Maybe addressing the core performance will address this issue, or make it easier to address.

It is really not simple enough that you would want to put writers and artists on a programming project.

Please solve as soon as possible this issue, it's horrible not being able to enjoy the full game so beautiful.

Too bad the new patch not solve the problem.

If this will be the engine to use in their next game, I'm afraid I'll have to pass them.

There are engine updates being made to improve performance and multithreading, as mentioned above.

In the meantime, one person limited the drop significantly by disabling texture streaming and tweaking their video driver options: fps drop.

Meh...Can't do the Texture trick, game just crashes...

Tried the other tweaks with the FPS Booster

Nothing...same drop and now the hitching and stutter is worse

Wish I never bought this title..it teases what it could be and then breaks at every turn with every patch. I give up.

Running on GTX 680 SLI and this thing is hitchy as all get out...everything else I have runs flawlessly. Guess that's what happens when you have a Kickstarter funded resource limited project.

I'm not here to defend Larian, I too suffer from poor performance on my laptop, but EA had a big budget on Battlefield 4 and Ubisoft on Assassin's Creed Unity and guess what both game were poorly optimized at launch.

So keep the faith brother, give Larian a chance, it's a small team.

Small team yes, but with the accolades achieved in the reviews and the potential here, I'm more frustrated than anything - hoping they take some of that profit and reinvest it to fix the game first before delving into another before they get a handle on what's making this thing so hitchy in the first place. Would still love to play it smile

I think like you.

Before working on something else some work can be done on D:OS. It will also help for the next game.
