Starting beach = new game location. As for CPU I don't think it's normal - indeed your CPU is quite enough to run the game fine. We just have to understand what's taking so much CPU processing power. On more technical terms divinity is using just one core of your CPU completely all other cores are fine /and we do use them as well/.

To understand your issue a bit better can you please:
1, verify starting game location CPU usage. I speculate it should not be 100%
2. Go back to marketplace. Start activity viewer and check 100% issue. Double click on divinity process in activity monitor and press sample button. Switch window to foreground and wait for sampler to finish
3. Use save button to save sampler output.
