Hi Guys,

Really enjoying the game.

However, it doesn't run very smooth and at times contains quite a bit of chop/lag, especially when running through Cyseal.

Thought it may have just been me, but turns out there are other mac users with the same issues here

I'm running the 2013 MBP.

Default video options are Medium at 1680*1050. Have tried lowering the res, although marginally better, it starts to look a tad crap. Performance vs Quality doesn't seem entirely worth it.

Cheers

Have you tried fake fullscreen mode? Also if you can update please to 10.9.4 as it does improve video performance a bit.

P.S. You might be a victim of save file performance deterioration. If you're have any experience with developer tools I can tell you what simple instruments might help you diagnose the issue. If not then you have to wait a bit until we resolve all the crashing issues and can start thinking on 6xx series performance (which indeed looks to be a bit low)

P.P.S If you can locate the "worst" lagging place and send save/screenshot to platon.fomichev@larian.com it might help as well.

Ok thanks dude,

Will look into it tomorrow, you can try with the instructions hehe otherwise yeah i can wait.

Yeah have turned off Shadows and Fake Full Screen on - performance is definitely better although not super smooth.

Worst parts are just in the town of Cyseal, especially around the markets in the centre/inn.

To somehow ease your pain centre part of Cyseal is the most CPU/GPU intensive place in probably whole game.. Can you please switch game in the centre of Cyseal to windowed mode (1680+ window) and launch activity viewer. Keep the game in foreground while looking at CPU tab of Activity viewer. How much CPU does the game consume?

Some generic notes:

1) Your game should be able to handle High textures (1024Mb of video). Performance should not drop
2) Turning off shadows is too much. Medium is fine. Try turning off Light Shadows for starters.

We will continue with GPU analysis when you'll be free. Do you have XCode installed?

Hi,

Light shadows was already off.

Here is a few shots of the CPU activity with a short gap between each snap.

Have just installed Xcode.

I have good news and bad news.

Good news: Your video can do a lot more.
Bad news: CPU is limiting it

Question: Is this marketplace CPU data? Can you check starting beach CPU data?

I will give you tomorrow a brief instruction on how to record a profiler run, using Instruments application.

Thanks!

Really?

My CPU cannot handle? The data is straight from the Activity Monitor.

Am unsure of the term Starting Beach CPU data.

Starting beach = new game location. As for CPU I don't think it's normal - indeed your CPU is quite enough to run the game fine. We just have to understand what's taking so much CPU processing power. On more technical terms divinity is using just one core of your CPU completely all other cores are fine /and we do use them as well/.

Thanks for helping me out.

To understand your issue a bit better can you please:
1, verify starting game location CPU usage. I speculate it should not be 100%
2. Go back to marketplace. Start activity viewer and check 100% issue. Double click on divinity process in activity monitor and press sample button. Switch window to foreground and wait for sampler to finish
3. Use save button to save sampler output.

Mail results to Platon.fomichev@larian.com

Thank you once again.

Oh of course....

Sorry didn't really take starting beach at face value...

Anyways CPU usage ranges from 69.9% to 70.6% with Graphics at Medium and shadows back on.

Went back to Market, spiked back upwards towards high 90s-100%

Have emailed the sample through.
