I'm not talking about double-dipping - through the Larian Vault, there's an option to get a GOG version of the game instead of (not in addition to) the Steam version. And I just don't like having to run Steam in the background every time I play - so it's not really DRM-free. Anyway, personal preference.
So does anybody know the answer?
You
do not have to run steam in the background. Close steam, go to your game folder, and click on the executable. The game will run fine.
You just won't get updates.
