I mean the one displayed on a character screen.Sometimes it is just easier to kill this or that guard who is standing in our way.Well, not only easier but it has a certain role-playing appeal as well (neutral evil!). I'm not talking about a mindless massacre in the center of a town, of course ,just, for instance, killing 3-4 guards in the prison basement.Something like that.
I think we lost 1 reputation point per guard. =))

In the short-term, I believe it just adjusts the "attitude" of any other friendly NPCs you talk to. This means that it is then harder to convince them using the Charisma mini-game, and they'll give you worse prices when bartering.

Long-term, I'm not sure. There might be certain characters that refuse to interact with you at all depending on your Reputation score, or events that play out differently depending on whether your Reputation is positive or negative.

Also if you get attitude really low, you need to give the characters money to even talk to you...
