Hi -

This will be slightly longer, since it explains how I resolved the issues, albeit invasively and with data loss. I don't recommend this to everyone.

First, here are the specs requested:
  • MacBook Pro Retina 15" Late 2013
  • 2Ghz i7
  • 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Iris Pro
  • OS X 10.9.4

After the troubleshooting from above, I performed the following actions: (ordered list)
  • Delete D:OS (only game installed currently)
  • Delete Steam
  • Delete Steam's Application Support files, cache, and plist files
  • Delete D:OS's Application Support files, and plist file
  • Moved the Larian folder in Documents to my desktop

--> At this point an interesting issue occurred: the com.larian.plist would not delete from Trash. An alert indicated it was still in use. To force this action, I used OS X's secure empty trash feature. <--

  • Re-download Steam & D:OS (overnight, while sleeping) EDIT: I forgot to mention, even though D:OS had updated to 1.0.66 overnight, at my first attempt this morning, it still CTD.
  • Restarted my computer this morning, per instructions
  • Launched Steam and D:OS for the first time today

I received the same message: "The last time you opened Divinity - Original Sin, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" I chose to NOT reopen. I also received the OS X warning from D:OS about Function-keys. This is the first time since first installing the game that I've seen this message, despite having removed the Larian plist prior to the deletion steps in this post. After I clicked through these alerts, the game started up as normal. However, I was no longer using v1.0.63. Instead, it loaded v1.0.66. (I presume there was an update overnight?). Apparently, during the course of this post, I'm now on v1.0.67.

The game seems to work, but it won't load my saved game files. (I'm not too bummed about this, since I was only level 2.) The game also didn't have any Steam cloud saves I could download/use, despite the setting being selected in Steam for this game. Regardless, it seems to work now, despite my settings being lost (expected based on troubleshooting) and my save games not working (unexpected).

At this point, I think there was either an OS X display handoff issue between my MBPro's built-in display and a secondary display--although I never had Steam or D:OS running while using a secondary display. Or, there is video settings issue with D:OS (that may live in the .plist file) after the 1.0.63 update.

(Or, witchcraft. But my wizard Dr. Stephen Strange never specced into that talent, so I don't think that caused the issue.)

Here is some extra info:
- I never played or downloaded a beta version of this game.
- I accidentally deleted my save games this morning (thinking they were in the cloud), so I can't email those to support to help troubleshoot.
- I played this game using the following settings:
  • 1440x900
  • v-sync on
  • graphics = medium
  • shadows on = low
  • frame rate capped at 40
  • AA on

Thanks for your reply, and the help you provided.
