Whirlwind is a unique skill book, you wasted your time reloading!
(So is Lightning Bolt/Burning Blaze I found)
And yeah, 2-hander is the way to go, as a battlemage you have elemental shields for defence anyway.
Gotta love a fully-buffed oath+raged flurry haha!
