Hello.

first off id like to say that i was sure that i will buy this game once it hits retail status.
i think at some point i read that it will feature couch coop and i was absolutly sure that THIS is going to be the game me and a friend always wanted to play together.
so yeah, here iam, reading all the great reviews of how great this game is but sadly it can only be played together over the internet.
i know that iam bragging on a really high level here but id love to play this game together with my friend while were in the same room.
all that keeps me from buying it is the fact that it doesnt feel the same when you play together over the internet and it wouldnt really be as fun as it could be if one person is playing while the other is watching. smirk

This isn't a console game, but a PC game.

If you want to play in the same room with someone, my suggestion is to put two computers next to each other and play.

Hm, you should be able to play the game via local LAN on two PCs in the same room, no internet needed.

Unless I am mistaken (if I am my apologies OP), I think he is asking for "split screen" play where two people can sit on the couch and play side by side on a single screen, like how console games tend to do it.

That's a really weird expectation. I can't think of a single PC game that allowed you to split screen on one PC... I mean there is hotseat for people who want to share one computer but... O.o

Yep, but keep in mind this game is huge right now and you are going to have a lot of console players coming in expecting console features. I mean, when ForkTongue comes in and starts asking for feedback on games that attend to controllers, it is a huge sign they hit the mainstream market with sales. My guess is that as soon as the numbers started to come in, Microsoft and Sony started giving them calls to see about setting up for a console release of D:OS.

Few things here.

1) ForkTongue's thread about controllers was created back in December of 2012, but was recently "necro'd". Between your comment above and your participation lately in that thread, I'm guessing you didn't notice that (and it wouldn't be the first time you've made that mistake on this forum). wink

2) Split-screen support is hardly a console-only feature. Lots of PC games provide it, including Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, I believe all of the LEGO games (Marvel Heroes, Hobbit, Batman, Harry Potter, Star Wars etc), Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (fun game, glad they're doing a sequel), Trine 2, Kane & Lynch, Dungeon Defenders, Resident Evil, Dungeon Siege 3, lots of racing games, sports games.. seriously, way too many to mention here as a complete list as I'm sure I'd forget some.

Gyson, you are a troll. You make fallacious arguments and play the victim when anyone calls you on such. You have been doing this through all of beta with multiple people.

I don't wish to discuss with you because I know where this always ends up.

so again...

PISS OFF TROLL!

You know I won't discuss with you. So you can either accept this and move on, not responding to me or you can continue to as you are, trolling.

Every time you respond to me it will be the same from now on. So, if you continue to respond to me knowing I will respond to you exactly the same, who is trolling?

Thought so... NOW PISS OFF!

So, are you suggesting that every time I respond to something you've written, you're going to respond with a comment like the one above?

It's your keyboard and time, I guess.

How many PC games are split screen and on PC only? There may be some (though I can't think of any off the top of my head), but this concept was primarily a console concept (two people sitting in front of a TV). Portal was released on console btw.

Thanks for all the examples smile

Lol I meant PC games that were only made for the PC in mind, my bad for my poor phrasing. PC games that allow for split screens usually originated from the console side or was made concurrently with the console releases.

Yeah, that is what I remember. The whole split screen concept was predominately console oriented. I think there might have been something for PC at one time, but I am thinking back in the 80's which is likely before some of these people making arguments time.

Heh, Zyll was a two player split-screen game back during the DOS days.:)

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six had split-screen support, and wasn't introduced on consoles until over a full year later. Serious Sam was ported over from the PC to the XBOX only because of its popularity on the PC. They're out there, although it's kind of hard to find a game these days that isn't available on multiple platforms (short of it being an "exclusive").

Hotseat (which is not split-screen, but rather multiple players taking turns at the keyboard) was very popular in early PC gaming. But that's more for games that are completely turn-based.

Why do you even want splitscreen? It's a game that require mouse+keyboard for proper play right now. Not really suited for a "couch experience" anyway. And why not just using two monitors with two PCs? You can still sit next to each other...

That is the thing. For instance, Serious Sam used shared keys on the keyboard for two people to use and even then, it was a clunky experience (and if you read their development history, they were always shooting for bringing the franchise to consoles). Most of the earlier day PC games that had CoOp either applied similar impractical play inputs or were a hot seat style of play.

Point is, anyone seriously attempting to entertain this is either trolling or being silly.
