BTW, it seems to be that the pets a making the game a lot easier. I am not sure I will use them in the next play through.

It's always the same, 'it's just a harmless little bunny'. Right until someone gets their head chewed off.

Well said! It is more than once that my killer bunny has made the final blow to a big enemy.

It's kind of weird when I have my herd of four grunting boars running behind my party... rpg003

What, can each party member summon a pet? If so, that's a bit of a balance-breaker.

The latest update (1.0.74) seems to have fixed the problem for me (and really, walking through Cyseal with a pack of four wolves should arouse some comment from bystanders...). So I'd like to conclude here by thanking Larian for adding what must have been a time-consuming feature, given the number of backers with unique additions.

Each party member can have 1 summon and a pet is considered to be a summon.
So yes, there can be 2 pets (as Jahan and Madora didn't back the game frown )
But this is the same thing as each partymember having a fire elemental behind them ;-)
Think of it this way, if you'd play co-op and each head your own way, would you want your summon to die just because your co-op player summoned something?

There is still one important difference:

* Summon have limited life time - so it is usually not worth summoning before a battle.
* Pets have unlimited life time - so you can summon them and they they stay with you until they die so they can give an edge in a battle.

Each party member can summon the same pet, including the companions so you can have four - and as Jacob notes, they hang around until killed.

It would seem better to allow only the first (player) character access to the Summon Pet skill, or have the skill just fail if a pet is present (and losing one in battle should result in a 5-10 minute delay before a new one can be summoned). But there's plenty of time for Larian to jiggle this in future updates (and hopefully, they'll open it up at some point so everyone can choose whatever pet they please).

There's been 3 patches release after the kickstarter support said the database has been updated with my pledge contents. And the patch after the OP ie the day after it's been fixed, ie the pledges database updates was included in the patch. I doubt there's any hazard.

The pet is the only true gameplay element of the pledges, that's why it blocked me partially to play or play more the game.

See Pledges stuff that became early access, grail and pants, released and do something even if nothing major. 3 patches and still my pledge fix isn't updated in game. It felt insulting.

Pledges goals are symbolic to let people that want support the game kickstarter give more money. That's probably what lead Larian to kneel in front of Early Access and expect indulgence from Kickstartes.

3 patches without the pledge stuff update included was quite hurting, it's all crap but I felt the pet was cool. In fact the pet is crap too, the pledge stuff that became Early Access is quite more cool, the pant is funny, the grail is a little bit management added. But the pet is just a summon and is cold and that's pure engagement stuff, no winks or smile, no little bit of acknowledgment.

Objectively the game itself is enough and I doubt any pledger is unhappy with the result even if they don't like this or that. But that behavior is a little insulting for pledgers.

I'll never forgot it and never pledge again anything relative to personalization, the base idea is crap.

Throwing affirmation you don't check before, like you did in Steam post, seems something you are used to do. Quote any post where I insult a user.

The only mention was general, about users mentioning kickstarters had no engagement and they was idiots to not do a simple check before throwing such wrong affirmation.

Now you quote there's multiple insults, so what other? I get insulted quite a lot because I wasn't licking Larian feet, and because it was about minority stuff, here what was the insults.

For Larian clowns, I'm surprised a team that put in a Fantasy game a weapon which break a first use and is a Rock Guitar, is hurt to be named clowns as they are playing it.

Larian to clue a wrong behavior with pledgers, yes they was clowns to do it. Seeing the sudden amount of pledges email, I don't regret my bash, which was also clownesque I admit it, it's better when Larian has right behaviors.

Absolutely. You might remember that was even a full point on my list in the "20 things to make a great game even better" thread a while ago... wink

It's a balance breaker and an immersion breaker if you can summon more than one pet at the same time (they all have the same looks and the same name...)
