I've gotten into the castle but am stuck at the inner force wall. I did take the staff to the forge and released the elementals. All I can get from them is an Earth elemental once got some friends out of the prison, but no idea how he did it. Also inside the castle there is a path leading over lava that goes to a waygate, but I can't get to it.

So the elementals won't help (even though they said they would) and I'm stuck in front of the inner barrier.

I just need the next step or two.

None of my characters have anything called a Fire Rune. Where do I find it?

You should get it, after you melt the Staff of the Elements in the Forge

Does it drop somewhere? It wasn't added to my inventory.

Should be in your inventory, compare quest log

I have that journal entry. But no rune anywhere. I also couldn't find it laying around the forge.

I actually had the mage companion you get in town carry the staff and he's the one that put it in the forge. After that the elemental talked to one of my PC's and not the mage. However neither, nor anyone else, has a rune of any kind.

What's it supposed to look like anyway?

Crap, I've saved a dozen times since then. Is this a known bug?

53 hours of playing and I really don't want to start over. Has anyone figured out yet how to add items using the console yet?

Go back to the elementals and talk to them again. They only gave me the rune after I'd found the White Witch. The staff disappears after you free the Elementals, that's why you can't find it.

How could you find the White Witch without having the rune? You have to use the rune to get to the WW.

I found a auto-save that I can use to try this again.

Apparently if you have a companion (not one of your two main characters) put the staff on the forge then you don't get a rune after your character talks to the fire elemental. Obviously a bug, but at least now I can avoid it.

Was this still not fixed? I have the same problem now, gave the staff to the forge with a non-source hunter and no fire rune was added to any of my inventories.

No recent save game with the staff still intact and the last auto-save is prior to the conduit fight, several hours of play time ago. :-/

Maybe the Save Game Editor could help? I didn't see the Fire Rune listed when I skimmed through the list, though. I don't know if you could transfer the staff from an old save and use the elemental forge again with a main character.


Please email supportdos@larian.com, with a description of the problem and the report.zip file generated by the D:OS support tool (for the PC version). The report will contain system and game information, as well as your saved games. To reduce the file size, all but your latest save can be deleted from the zip.

Are the elementals still there? Try talking to the Fire Lord.

Cantello found the Fire Rune; it had gotten moved to a container in a character's inventory.
