Just an opinion, but limiting pets as a feature to just Kickstarter in the first place was a really bad move. I mean, if a developer is going to go through the trouble of implementing pets as permanent party members.. then just do it for the game and don't hide it away as Kickstarter-only feature. Pets are the type of thing you want out there as selling points when the game gets reviewed.

"For players new to this genre of game and looking for additional help, the developers have even provided you with the option of visiting a local pet vendor and bolstering your party with an additional animal companion of your choosing! Players with the Petpal talent and a high enough charisma can even try to befriend unique pets out in the wild and have them join the Source Hunters on their adventure! How cool is that??"

That's the kind of stuff some players go batsugar-crazy over. Wasted opportunity. ouch Exclusive pet skins for Kickstarter, sure. Pets as a Kickstarter-only feature though.. just a bad idea that's probably costing them some potential points on reviews.
