I'm also having the exact same issue as xsys, though with the Steam version of the game. I've done all of the previous steps mentioned in the other troubleshooting threads, and I also have the intro movies renamed (which cause the crash to occur faster).
Coincidentally I also has Tera installed, which could be a factor if Tera added additional Codecs to the operating system, if codecs are a big factor with this problem. I am also running Windows 7 x64.
