Hi again just wanted to add some more info:
I created a new game on the same current profile, and the issue doesn't seem to be occurring at all. Whichever hero I saved the game on, will select that Hero on load game. Seems like the new patch broke all of my current saves to have this issue.
I guess I am restarting again
